I like eating. I have my favorite dishes and my favorite places. But, my thought recently was: what am I missing? I know the local places, the occasional surprising 'hole in the wall' places, a few higher end places. I can tell you where the best pastrami on rye is within 10 miles of my home. I can tell you where my favorite burger place is in LA. But I am not a gourmand or an otherwise high-end diner. But, I got to thinking what else is out there? Are those high-end places really that good? So, I decided to try a few. When this idea came to me about whether those high end restaurants were all they were cracked out to be, I expected it would all be a bunch of exaggeration and lies told by people to justify the cost of those dinners. That could still be true, but it isn't true with respect to the L'Etelier in Las Vegas. I went there with one other friend. The two guys who cancelled will likely never really know what they missed. But, that was among the best dinners of my life. As expected, the portions were tiny. Not as expected, there were 11 of them. I was absolutely stuffed at the end. I was still stuffed the next morning. This was French cooking. I didn't expect to like it, but I loved it. I'd never before experienced many of the tastes that I got to enjoy in that meal. Every single course, without exception, was a new joy. The waiters were down-to-Earth great guys (I think we had 5 of them). No fake talk. No 'overly friendly' sorts. Nothing remotely negative. Just guys who really knew the food they were serving and stopped to talk just enough! The head chef came around at the end and gave us some more insights, further enhancing an already extraordinary dining experience.

There was only one bad thing about my visit here...that my reservation was on my last night in Vegas and I couldn't squeeze in a second visit. I would have tried to get a reservation for the next night if I wasn't leaving, Dare I say, I enjoyed my experience here a bit more than the other Joel Robuchon restaurant next door? Both were amazing, but I had such much fun with the concept of L'Atelier! It was lovely getting to sit at the counter and watch the kitchen work their magic. The servers were out of this world and they made the whole evening a million times better too! They definitely know how to treat their patrons. I'm quite introverted, but I found myself finding it very easy to talk to the servers and they put me at ease. The food quality, taste, and presentation couldn't be beat. I'm still dreaming about the passionfruit soufflé. I'm actually still thinking about the whole meal in general. This is a place that should not be missed on your trip to Vegas. I am already trying to plan my next visit!

Wow... wow... wow Located at the MGM Las Vegas lobby this restaurant was the highlight of our vacation trip. The staff were superb, perfectly choreographed and knowledgeable. The tasting menu was our choice. The elegance of the plates' presentation, flavors and story behind each dish created the perfect experience. The ambiance is amazing. We sat at the counter in close proximity to the kitchen, which enhanced our interaction with the staff. The restaurant has a in house sommelier who assisted us in our wine selection. A little pricey... but the experience is worth the price. Highly recommend.
